Symposium on Energy Transition and Climate Change

Last June 5 to 10, 2014, Psychology Volunteers on Bikes External Relations Officer Monica Manluluyo attended the 2014 International Student Conference on Environment and Sustainability. The 6-day conference was held in Tongji University, Shanghai, China where experts on environment, energy, urban development and economy discussed regional and global ecological civilization and green development in the new age together with participants around the world.

Energy transition as a way to address climate change is gaining momentum, and China, as the world’s second largest consumer and producer of electricity, plays an important role in maintaining global energy security. The Symposium on Energy Transition and Climate Change brings together the inputs of different countries on their movements in energy transition.

The symposium gives representatives from the Chinese government and non-government sectors, European Union and German Energiewende the chance to talk about their initiatives along with young researchers from Kenya, Bangladesh, Germany, Egypt and Serbia.
