Last week’s ride was a success! We managed to visit some of the remaining plant- and animal-friendly spaces in the city — spaces that are beginning to disappear because of the diminishing regard for ecology. It’s about time we familiarized ourselves again with Mother Nature and live our lives sustainably.
The week before last, we visited some of our public high schools as a welcoming feat for the back-to-school month of June. For the final ride of the season (aaawww…), we celebrate the importance of education with a visit to the various colleges and unversities in Cebu City. Join us this Sunday, June 15, 2014, for Tindak Sugbo Season 2: Suroy sa Kolehiyo ug Unibersidad!
While making the route we realized that Cebu City only has very few public or state colleges/universities — in the route, only UP Cebu, CNU, and CTU — and the rest are private schools. It’s a pity how higher education is unavailable or less available to the greater masses. Let’s ride this season’s last ride to celebrate the importance of learning and demand for free and accessible quality education for all.
See you this Sunday! Meetup is at 6AM at The Mayflower Inn, beside the Capitol compound.
Also, since tertiary and higher education is important to getting ready for a skilled profession, we are encouraging you to come in your work/school attire (scrub suit, security guard uniform, teacher uniform, school uniform, etc)! It’s one way to show that both education and biking shouldn’t be just a privilege for the few, but a right of every one! 🙂
Bring your family and friends as we demand for education and demand for bike lanes — two things that should rightfully be ours! If you don’t have bikes, no problem! Just bring your ID and we will lend you one. The borrowing of bikes is only available until 5:45 at West Gorordo Hotel, so be early!
P.S. There’s a short program after the ride so we can offer our thank you’s and celebrate the gift of the entire Tindak Sugbo season. So don’t go home right away and stay for a bit more of fun and prizes! 😉
