51 years old, Guadalupe, Cebu City
Cebu Vintage Bicycle Club
He was a BMX guy during the late 70’s, but he stopped biking at ’82 then went biking again in 2009 when he bought a folding bike from his brother. He has a thing for classic American bicycles and is currently the coordinator for the Cebu Vintage Bicycle Club (American). He uses his classic American balloon bike in selling and delivering fresh lumpia to his clients.
“I found out the practicality of having a bicycle when my small Japanese van was bumped into and had to be sent to a repair shop for a fix. So I thought then, why not use my bicycle to deliver the fresh lumpia and empanada? It was a very good idea, so I sold the small van. The change saved me from costly gasoline and parking fees. It also reduced my weight and delivered my goods faster. It’s not my only means of transport, and I bike daily at an average distance of 12km.”
