Roundtable Discussion to Make Cebu a Low Carbon City

Psychology Volunteers on Bikes represented by Edna Lee joined the Roundtable Discussion on Making Cebu a Low Carbon City. The event was a joint collaborative effort of the City of Cebu thru the office of the Councilor on the Environment- Councilwoman Nida Cabrera, A2D (Research Group for Alternatives to Development, Inc) and IGES (Institute for Global Environmental Strategies- Japan). This is the first of a series of discussions to begin the campaign for a Low Carbon Cebu. Present during the discussion were sectoral representatives from other non government organizations like Freedom from Debt Coalition, SANLAKAS, CTU Renewable Energy Research Group, City Planning Office, the City Agriculture Office, REgional Center for Expertise in Education for Sustainable Development (Al Arquillano) and UC Law School (Atty Gloria Estenzo Ramos). The speakers were Dr. Premakumara, Senior Policy Researcher from the Institute of Global Environmental Strategies, Japan); Engr, Danilo Villas, Department Head, Makati City Environmental Services and A2D Project and gave a Status Report on Energy Use and Carbon Emissions in Cebu City.
